An incredibly rare opportunity to own one of the most sought-after pieces of Old Style breweriana advertising ever produced.
Offered here is an authentic 1970s Heileman's Old Style "TV Simulator" Motion Beer Sign, a remarkable animated advertising display designed and produced for G. Heileman Brewing Company by Embosograph Display Manufacturing Co. of Chicago.
Measuring approximately 29" wide x 16¼" high x 3-4" deep, this impressive sign was created to capture attention behind the bar, and even today it remains one of the most eye-catching beer signs ever made.
Unlike ordinary lighted beer signs, this TV Simulator contains an internal motion-film mechanism that creates the mesmerizing illusion of a roaring river with continuously flowing water. Combined with the illuminated Old Style graphics and classic faux woodgrain cabinet styling, it delivers a stunning visual experience that immediately transports you back to the golden age of neighborhood taverns and supper clubs.

For a piece that is over half a century old, this sign presents beautifully and remains an outstanding display piece.
The lighting functions properly, and the motion mechanism is working, producing the breathtaking flowing-water effect these signs are famous for. Once illuminated, the river appears alive with movement, creating a captivating roaring-water illusion that immediately draws attention and admiration.
As shown in the photographs, there are some minor age-related imperfections and light wear visible within portions of the scenic river display panel. These cosmetic flaws are consistent with the age of the sign and are primarily noticeable upon close inspection. (see last photo)
Most importantly, the visual impact of the sign remains exceptional. When lit and running, the stunning animated river scene becomes the focal point, and the minor imperfections fade into the background. The breathtaking flowing-water effect still displays beautifully and does not detract from the overall presentation, rarity, or collectability of this remarkable piece.
The cabinet remains solid and substantial, featuring its original heavy-gauge metal/steel rear housing. The original hanging chain is also present, making the sign ready for wall display.
Original Factory Label:
The original manufacturer's label remains attached to the back of the sign and identifies it as an: "OLD STYLE TV SIMULATOR"
The label includes original relamping instructions and specifically references the internal motion film inside, confirming the unique animated mechanism that sets these displays apart from traditional beer signs.
The label also states:
"Designed and produced for the G. Heileman Brewing Company by Embosograph Display Mfg. Co., Chicago."
The survival of this original label adds authenticity, provenance, and collector appeal.
Collector's Note:
Original Old Style TV Simulator signs are becoming increasingly difficult to find, especially examples that retain their original label, hanging chain, steel housing, and most importantly, a functioning motion display.
This is much more than a beer sign. It is a piece of vintage Midwestern tavern history and one of the most visually impressive breweriana displays ever created. Whether you're a dedicated Old Style collector, breweriana enthusiast, vintage advertising investor, or simply someone who appreciates unique Americana, this sign is guaranteed to become the centerpiece of your collection.
Rarely available. Even harder to find with the motion effect and lighting functioning.
Don't miss the opportunity to own one of the finest and most recognizable Old Style advertising displays ever produced.
